Considerations In Your Door Hardware
There are many things to consider when you are buying, installing, or maintaining any door hardware. The first thing you should do before you do anything is to decide how it is going to be used. This means, think about if the door is being attached to the exterior, interior, if it is a front door, bedroom door, etc. Also, you want to determine what its overall purpose (safety, style, utility) is. Depending on the purpose and placing of the door hardware, you have a number of options to choose from of door knobs, door locks, etc. for example, the front door is going to want to have strong door locks, but still have appealing and decorative door handles. The door locks you choose are probably the most crucial part of the door hardware. You always want your door locks to be state of the art and attractive, but more importantly they have to be durable. If a lock isn't reliable, then it's worthless in terms of its purpose. For traditional exterior doors, go for a single cylinder dead bolt, which requires a key outside. If you have glass porch doors, then you may want to go for double cylinder door locks, which require a key for both the inside and out. This makes the door hardware more effective for its purpose- protection. Along with security, it's always important to consider you're the door knobs. Many times interior doors will use simple handles. These door knobs are easy to bypass because they use simple mechanics that allow you to intrude on your child's date if you are suspicious. But when it comes to door knobs, the crucial thing to keep in mind is alignment. Installing the door hardware correctly should make the door open and close easily.
