Out With The Old Door Hardware

There are endless doors and cabinets in any home that have door knobs and other door hardware that may eventually need to be changed. Even if there's nothing wrong with the cabinet and door knobs in a home, they eventually go out of style and changing them really provides a fresh look. Choosing and installing new door hardware, however, can be trickier than most people think.

Choosing new door knobs is truly a personal choice, but it can be the hardest part of the job. Materials such as brass, copper, wood and stone make it difficult to choose the right door hardware, but eventually a winner will stand out in the pack. Glass door knobs are a popular choice right now for the bright and airy look they create, as well as glass cabinet hardware. Installing those glass cabinet hardware and door knobs is another matter altogether, but with a little patience and a drill or electric screwdriver almost anyone should be able to do it. When choosing new door knobs and hardware, the resistance and durability of the material should be considered. It may seem that glass door knobs would not be able to stand up to a lot of wear and tear, but this is actually not usually the case.

Most knobs and handles are powerful enough to resist all force applied to them. People usually change their door hardware because they do not like how they look. That being said, the choice really comes down to what will look best with the desired theme or décor of the home or entranceway.
