The Important Purposes Of Door Hinges

There are many different types of door hardware that need to be replaced from time to time, or you might just want to switch them out to create a new look. Door hinges are some of the most important pieces of hardware, because they help the door to swing open and closed again. These home hardware products can also add an elegant finishing touch to the front door, bedroom door, bathroom door or the door to any other room in the home.

The most common type of door hinges is the butt hinge, which come in two different varieties - fixed pin and loose pin. The fixed pin door hardware has pins that can't be removed, while the loose pin door hardware does have removable pins. Both of these types of home hardware have their advantages and disadvantages. You might be better off with a loose pin, for example, if you plan on taking the door off the hinges frequently for some reason.

There are other types of door hinges to suit other purposes, although they are not quite as common as the loose pin and fixed pin. One of the more common types of door hardware besides those two is the knuckle hinge, which serves the main purpose of enhancing the interior design of the home. These decorative home hardware items are not juts for looks, though - they are also very strong hinges. These door hinges are often used for exterior doors because they are generally heavier than the average interior door.

There are various other types of door hardware that serve other purposes, as well, which are too numerous to list here. Door hinges in particular are more complex than most people probably know, and they do much more than help the door open and close. The type of hinges should not be your only concern when you shop for door hardware; you also need to pay close attention to the color, material and style of the hinges.
